The
Xtreme Prototypes 20 Series add-on business jet package
for Microsoft® Flight
Simulator X contains six variations of the legendary
Models 24, 25 and 28.
The
classic 20 Series aircraft, nicknamed "fighters in civilian
clothing" because of their sleek design and amazing performance,
were the first true executive jets and would forever redefine
the way corporate America and the rest of the world did
business. Their timeless design and capabilities earn them a
place among the "extreme aircraft", setting record after record
while allowing shirt-sleeve comfort in their plush cabins.
Each highly-detailed 3D model is inspired from the real world
aircraft and features many movable parts and high resolution
textures. The fully functional 3D virtual cockpit contains over
800 parts and more than 200 back and front-lit 3D gauges, lights,
switches and flight instruments.
While this
add-on package allows comprehensive procedural IFR flight, we at
Xtreme Prototypes recognize that not everyone has the time,
patience or inclination to read, understand and learn a complete
manual, which is why the Xtreme Prototypes 20 Series remains
simple to operate. Anyone who masters Flight Simulator's default
jets can fly the 20 Series aircraft for FSX. It's up to the user
to decide which level of complexity he/she wants to achieve.
The custom flight model has been designed to simulate the
performance of a high-powered civilian jet aircraft. The package
includes custom visual effects and sounds, multiple camera views
and a detailed flight manual (PDF format, in English and French).

Xtreme Prototypes 20 Series Add-on Aircraft
Description
The Xtreme Prototypes 20 Series
for Flight Simulator X is inspired from a series of aircraft
known in the 1970's as the Gates Learjet 24, 25 and 28. It
contains six variations of the legendary business jets:
■ Two variations of Model 24 (fictitious tail numbers XP-241 and
XP-242)
■ Two variations of Model 25 (fictitious tail numbers XP-251 and
XP-252)
■ Two variations of Model 28 (fictitious tail numbers XP-281 and
XP-282)
Retaining the time-defying design of the original Model 23,
Model 24 brought airline-style systems redundancy and increased
performance and safety. Epitomizing the private jet and often
dubbed "Pocket Rocket" or "Fighter in civilian clothing", Model
24 flew above the weather and higher than most airliners, making
its pilots and passengers members of a rather exclusive club.
With Model 25 came a longer cabin, increased seating capacity
and more flexible loading options, not to mention a rather
sleek-looking stretched fuselage. The Model 25's shape became
synonymous with flying coolness. Improved versions of the power
plant gave the Model 25 yet another increase in performance.
Model 28 featured new winglets in place of the previous
tip-tanks. This new aerodynamic technology afforded a dramatic
reduction in induced drag which in turn increased the aircraft's
potential range by reducing fuel consumption. Model 28 is the
ultimate development of the straight-turbojet powered business
jet and still holds quite a few FAI records to this date.
The Xtreme Prototypes 20 Series add-on business jets are fully
detailed with over 500 parts and 40 animations. The airplanes
feature different high resolution reflective textures with bump
maps, emissive (night) textures, unique markings, movable
control surfaces (movable stabilizer, elevator, ailerons with
trim tab, flaps, vertical stabilizer/rudder with trim tab, and
spoilers), highly detailed extendable landing gear with taxi and
landing lights, fully animated engine turbine and compressor
disks, movable main cabin door, and cabin details including
cockpit, passenger cabin, seats and pilots.
All 20 Series for Flight Simulator X aircraft are equipped with
two General Electric CJ-610, 2,950-pound static thrust,
single-spool turbojet engines.
The aircraft display animated visual effects such as engine
smoke and contrail effects, aircraft lights (landing, taxi,
recognition, navigation, rotating beacons, strobes), virtual
cockpit/cabin lights, wing vortices and vapor trails.
Other features include a custom sound package, multiple camera
views (external and internal), kneeboard reference tab and check
list and a comprehensive 85-page user flight manual in English
and French (PDF format).
Fully Functional 3D
Virtual Cockpits
Each 20 Series aircraft
comes with a fully functional virtual cockpit which contains
over 800 parts and more than 200 front and back-lit animated
gauges, switches, levers, light indicators and flight
instruments.
The full 3D gauges have been carefully designed and programmed
based on the original analog instruments found in the real
business jets. Virtually all gauges, switches, lights and
instruments found on each panel are functional and behave like
the original ones found in the real aircraft. Aircraft engines
and most systems present in the real aircraft are also simulated.
The virtual cockpit allows for complete IFR flight, and features
all the instruments, annunciators, displays, switches and knobs
necessary to do so.
Multiple VC camera views are provided to help the pilot access
switches and other items in areas of the cockpit that are
difficult to reach when in the default VC view. Users can cycle
through the different views.
The virtual cockpit allows for total 3D immersion into the 20
Series flying environment.
